Frequently asked questions.
Why can’t I purchase your goods from where I live?
The world of international shipping is complex and sometimes expensive. Currently we only deliver to countries within the EU as we feel that the shipping and import costs outside of the EU are just too steep. If you are deadset on placing an order with us please contact us so we can manually place your order and figure out shipping!
What are your products made of?
We print all our products in high grade PLA (polylactic acid). It is a thermal plastic which enables it to be printed by heating and extruding it using a 3D-printer. We use PLA because it offers the ideal balance between detail, price and durability.
Furthermore PLA is a biodegradable plastic that is made out of renewable organic sources and has a significantly lower impact on the environment compared to conventional plastics.
The only downside of PLA is its relative low melting point. At 60°C PLA will start to deform, so be sure not to place your sweet terrain behind a window, or leave it in a smoldering hot car. We use a enhanced version called PLA+ in order to mitigate this downside as much as possible.
Are your products durable?
Our products are all made using high quality PLA+ (polylactic acid). Our products offer a durability to withstand regular use of our products. PLA is a thermoplastic, which means it starts to deform at 60°C. For this reason we advice you to not store our products behind a window or inside a car that is exposed to the sun.
Our products are strong enough to survive the occasional fall from your gaming table and won’t show as much as a dent. Does this mean that it will survive a hit with a hammer? Probably not, stop asking weird questions, why would you even want to hit it with a hammer?!
Why does it take up to two weeks to ship my order?
3D-printing is truly a marvelous technology, alas it is not a super fast technique. Even our smaller buildings take 2 days to print, for the larger buildings this can quickly go up to 5 days. We try to keep a limited stock of our products but if you place a large order, it might take a bit longer to get everything printed and ready to be shipped.
What layer height are your products printed in?
In general we print using a layer height of 0.16 mm. We find that this layer height offers the best balance between detail and affordability. In other words, further lowering the layer height greatly increases the printing time while only very marginally increasing the quality.
Will you sell “insert product” in the future?
We are continually expanding our line of products to better meet your tabletop needs. We do however extensively test our prints before posting them online for sale. we do this to ensure we deliver high quality products that are always a good deal for our customers. It is for this reason a lot of the digital files on the market are not being sold by Tabletop Realm , as we won’t sell products we wouldn’t use ourselves.
If you do want to suggest a product you are interested in, please contact us using the contact form and we will see if this product meets the aforementioned quality.
How do you come to the shown prices?
The prices for our products constitute multiple factors. First there is the required printing time. Based on this time, we set a basic price, this will cover machine related costs. Second, we take into account how much material is used to make the product. Lastly are our other overhead costs, like maintaining this website, paying for commercial licenses, advertising and many other fixed costs.
